Scroll Making workshop in June

In June, I will be hosting the second scroll making workshop. The workshop will have a small group of three participants and it will be expected to take around 4 sessions. Making a scroll is a very intricate process. If we were to go into every detail, it would take a month or more. However, I plan to prepare certain parts in advance to make the process as efficient as possible. While actively participating in exhibitions as a calligrapher, I also studied the art of making scrolls at a scroll company in Osaka. At that time, driven by a strong desire to mount my own calligraphy, I entered the world of making scrolls. The purpose of hyougu (表具) is to enhance the beauty of the calligraphy, and hyougu (表具)itself should never overshadow the artwork. However, with the right choice of hyougu (表具, the piece can truly shine. Scroll itself is an essential part of the artwork, and I have deeply learned its importance. The last major scroll work I handled in Japan was being responsible for the mounting of most of the scrolls(肌裏 through 総裏) for the solo exhibition of Master Yamada shoukou(山田勝香at the Chigusa kai (千草会) I hope to share this knowledge and experience with all of you."Please bring your already backed artwork ( save drying time) no larger than 14 inches by 17 inches. (If you need backing, please let me know )
If you're interested, please let me know. I’d like to finalize the schedule based on your availability.
Please pay the fee for the first two sessions as a deposit upon signing up
